Bohumír Stehlík is one of the leading pianists on the Czech classical music scene. He excels in his instrumental skills and his unusual musical expressivity.
Having finished his high school music studies at Jan Neruda Grammar School in Prague under Professor Irina Kondratenko, he went to the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. After a year, in 2011, he continued to Sweden, where he studied until 2016 at one of the most prestigious Scandinavian music schools – Edsberg Music Institute, part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm – under Professor Mats Widlund.
He devoted himself extensively to Czech music already during his studies. In 2016 he debuted at a purely Czech solo recital at Konserthuset Stockholm. Currently, music from his homeland, alongside Swedish music, is the central pillar of his repertoire.
During studies Bohumír became a laureate of numerous piano competitions (e.g. Ljunggrenska tävlingen – 1st prize; Stockholm International Music Competition – 2nd prize; Concertino Praga – 1st prize, etc.). He has also been awarded several scholarships by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music for solo, chamber music and accompaniment, a Yamaha scholarship, etc. As part of the Duo du Rêve chamber ensemble, together with flutist Jana Jarkovská, he has received a number of awards in chamber music competitions (ProMusicis France Award – winner; Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition – 3rd prize; ISA Open Awards – winner, Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition – 1st price).
A regular performer of both solo and chamber concerts, Stehlík is also a member of the international chamber ensemble Ensemble D’Accord and the Lieder Society. In addition to concert activities, he collaborates with the Czech Radio and holds the positions of artistic director of the classical music branch of the Povaleč festival in Valč near Karlovy Vary and vice-president of the D’Accord music association based in Germany. He worked as a teacher at the Ingesund Academy of Music at Karlstad University in Sweden and since October 2016 he has been teaching at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. He is also an organist at the pilgrimage church of the Name of the Virgin Mary in Křtiny.
In addition to three CDs of chamber music and numerous radio recordings, he released a solo CD "Pictures", where he presents his original compositions on various pianos.
...introduced flowing music full of passionate energy, warm softness and amazing colors with almost limitless use of the instrument's capacity. Bohumír is already one of the future "rising stars".
